Charleston, SC, June 25, 2009 – Musicorp, a leading national distributor of musical instruments, accessories and lighting products, sponsored a battle of the bands contest presented by Music & Arts, a music retail store based on Mall Road in Cypress, California. The battle of the bands contest was held at the world famous Roxy on the Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on May 31, 2009.

Musicorp Sales Representative, Dan Murdy, opened the competition with a welcome speech about the value of music education. In addition, he briefly discussed how Musicorp plays a role with dealers as partners. Dan Murdy helped judge each of the bands that competed and presented the first place trophy to the overall winners of the competition, The Rock Nerds, consisting of 6-year old guitar player Masyn Avila and bass player Matt Cesena.

The eleven bands that competed consisted of Music & Arts student musicians, ranging from five to fifty-two years of age. Over five hundred people attended, from friends and family, to other Music & Arts students.

“We always strive to seek avenues to support music education,” said Dan Roberts, Musicorp VP of Sales.
